WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, USA, October 10, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- He is a motivating mentor who inspires teens to reach their full potential and he is coming to Palm Beach County! On October 11th, Jason Kelly of Bloomberg’s New York bureau will visit the Police Athletic League of West Palm Beach (PAL) to learn more about West Palm Beach’s urban neighborhoods and to bring attention to the needs of area youth.

This event will feature Kelly as guest speaker at the downtown WPB PAL facility, 720 North Tamarind Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. Community leaders, government officials, and students in the PAL program will join him for a tour of the facility, a meet & greet book signing, and an exciting keynote address by Kelly in which he will share his experiences as a mentor to children and teens, his love of sports and how students can fight the negative to succeed in both sports and in life. This event is open to the public.

“This exciting event serves as an opportunity to inspire the young people in the neighborhoods of West Palm Beach,” said Melissa Nash, president of the WPB PAL Board of Directors. “Mr. Kelly brings an international perspective to issues that affect our community, and inspires our next generation to reach their full potential, both in sports and in life. Moreover, his visit will serve as an opportunity for us to fundraise to be able to provide healthy and nutritious meals for the children and teens in our PAL program. We are very excited about his visit.”

Doors open for the event at 5:00 p.m. with Kelly’s speaking appearance scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Following the talk, Kelly will take questions before sitting for a special engagement book signing. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

Kelly is Bloomberg's New York bureau chief, where he oversees more than 1,200 journalists at the company's world headquarters. He also serves as the executive editor of Bloomberg Television, responsible for the network's content globally. He is the author of two books -- The New Tycoons: Inside the Trillion Dollar Private Equity Industry that Owns Everything (2012), the product of five years leading Bloomberg's global private equity coverage; and Sweat Equity: Inside the New Economy of Mind and Body (2016), an in-depth look at the business of fitness.

He has served as managing editor of Bloomberg Link, the company's global conference business and is a regular contributor to Bloomberg Markets and Bloomberg BusinessWeek, where his work has spanned artificial intelligence on Wall Street to economic development during the war in Afghanistan. Prior to joining Bloomberg, he edited a magazine about technology and venture capital in the Southeast U.S. He is a graduate of Georgetown University.

“As excited as we are to welcome Mr. Kelly,” continued Nash. “We are equally excited about our growing relationship with Children Services Council, Living Hungry, whose mission is to provide nutrition products and logistical solutions to those in need, and the South Florida Hunger Coalition. Hunger is something our PAL students face every day. Where is that next meal coming from? Is it nutritious? Is it filling? Thanks to a $25,000 grant Children’s Services Council recently awarded PAL, we can welcome Mr. Kelly and also launch our new food bag program. We are looking forward to a wonderful relationship.”

ESPN Radio West Palm’s Josh Cohen will serve as emcee for the event. McCloskey Financial Group, a wealth management firm based in West Palm Beach with over 50 years of experience in building relationships and achieving client goals, is a sponsor of the event.

Suggested donation for this event is $35. Seats are limited. Monies raised through the event will support PAL’s efforts to build self-esteem and resiliency in youth while providing positive alternatives to negative behaviors they may be surrounded by, and to increase PAL’s food and incentives program.
